How do I get an AAT product? (only valid for Germany)
Step 1: presentation
Please contact your dealer and he or she will present any product to you free of charge. Our representative will come to your house for the presentation. We test your stairs to make sure they are suitable. We further see whether the patient and the operator can handle the stair climber. We keep written reports of each presentation.
Step 2: prescription
Have your medical doctor prescribe the device to you. Please make sure that the prescription specifies the product name of the device, e.g. stair climber, type c-max. Members of legal insurance companies must pay 10% of the costs themselves since the health reform in 2004, yet not more than 10 Euro per prescription. 'The medical doctors' budgets are not affected. According to the new laws medical aids such as all our products, do not fall under the medicine, bandage or medication budget.
Step 3: application
The report of the presentation will be sent to the medical service, which makes an estimate of the costs. Said estimate is submitted to the insurance company, social security etc.
Step 4: approval
If the insurance company approves your application for a medical aid then you can order the desired device at your dealership. If your application is not approved you may contact your dealer to help you with tips to improve your application.
Step 5: delivery / instruction
A new device is always delivered by an AAT representative or by an experienced dealer. You will always receive a basic training session and instructions when your device is delivered. If you should not be instructed by a dealer or representative, please contact AAT Alber Antriebstechnik directly. At the end of the training period you or the operator of the device must sign the training protocol.

Can all stairs be ascended or descended by AAT stair climbers?
Our stair climbers need a step depth of 14 cm. The height of a step may not exceed 21 cm for the c-max and 22 cm for the s-max. For an additional charge it is possible to increase the step range to 22.5 cm (this only applies to the c-max). The stairs can be spiral stairs or straight ones, while the steps may be made of wood, stone or metal, even carpeted steps can be climbed by our stair climbers. The room that is necessary to use our devices, e.g. the size of a landing, etc. cannot generally be determined. A presentation at your house or a particular location will be necessary to answer that question.
How much do I have to pay for an Alber product? (only valid for Germany)
Almost all AAT products are recognized and approved medical aids by insurance companies. Members of legal medical insurance companies must pay their proper share of 10% of the costs, however not more than 10 Euro; for example, if your medical aid costs 5000 Euro, you merely have to pay 10 Euro as your proper share.
Where can I look at AAT products?
Our dealers have all our products at their locations. We are happy to present the devices at your house or a location of your choosing. Many medical services have devices for demonstration. You may also view the different AAT products there.
Can I buy medical aids directly at AAT?
Unfortunately this cannot be done. Please contact medical services or our representative in Germany or abroad.
